This Victorian vinaigrette takes the form of a decorative egg, crafted in sterling silver with a pink guilloché enamel exterior. The piece features engine-turned striping beneath the translucent enamel and ornate gilt silver mounts. The hinged cover opens to reveal a gilt interior with a pierced grille, typical of vinaigrettes which were used to hold perfumed sponges or fabric. While the overall form remains elegant, there is a significant chip to the enamel.
