MAGNIFICENT MEXICAN STERLING SILVER SIGNED BUTTERFLY BROOCH
This stunning Mexican sterling silver brooch showcases a dramatically sculptural butterfly rendered in rich repousse style, featuring bold three-dimensional raised wing forms with organic flowing lines, applied ball accent details on the wings, and elaborately curling antennae with decorative finials, bearing the well known EB Taxco maker's mark, a highly desirable and collectible piece of Mexican silver artisan jewelry. • MATERIALS: Sterling silver, 19 grams • ERA: Vintage, circa 1940s-1950s, Taxco era • MAKER/MARKS: Stamped "STERLING MEXICO" with EB maker's mark in cartouche on reverse (EB = Eduardo Bustamante, prominent Taxco silver artisan) • MEASUREMENTS: 2 3/8" x 2" (6.0 x 5.1 cm) • CONDITION: Very good vintage condition with normal wear consistent with age. Sterling silver shows beautiful natural patina particularly in the deep recessed areas of the repousse design which dramatically enhances the sculptural quality and contrast. All raised ball details intact and secure. Antennae with decorative finials crisp and undamaged. Pin mechanism on reverse functional. Maker's mark clearly legible.
