This refined belt buckle demonstrates the sophisticated enameling techniques of the Meiji period. The two-piece design features intricate cloisonné work on a silver over brass base, with a sophisticated palette of red, turquoise, pink, sage green, and royal blue enamels. The symmetrical pattern showcases butterfly motifs paired with stylized florals, all contained within a scalloped border featuring cloud-like forms.
